Event Awards

Academic Success Award: 

The award for Academic Success is given for an event that fosters academic success of residents by providing them with essential tools and skills to be leaders on campus. One of our most important goals as a residential community is to provide education beyond the classroom. Events in this category are intended to ensure residents are being provided with the knowledge they need in order to make productive decisions throughout college and beyond.

Advocacy Event/Initiative Award: 

In recent years, advocacy has become a main focus of RHA. Events or initiatives within this category have helped to advocate on behalf of their residents, underrepresented groups/individuals, or have educated their residents on current issues affecting their fellow residents.

Collaborative Event Award: 

Events within this category have fostered collaboration with a variety of student groups and/or University departments to produce an event that fundamentally impacts the campus community and residence life. 

Outstanding Community Council Event Award: 

Events within this category have fostered collaboration with their community buildings in such a way that residences in this community have felt increasingly connected to their surrounding residential buildings. This event has helped foster connectedness and inclusivity amongst the connected residential buildings. 

Creativity in a Community Building Event Award: 

Events within this category are those that go above the normal bounds of event ideation to create something innovative, unique, and unseen so far in the area of event planning. It is awarded to a social/community building event that has shown outstanding creativity in ideation and implementation. 

Diversity and Inclusion Award: 

Events within the category of diversity and inclusion are those to help provide a deeper awareness and understanding of the differences and similarities of all people with whom we come into contact. These events strive to create an environment in which residential students will develop an avid interest and genuine appreciation of all the ways in which those around them bring unique gifts and share common values. Furthermore, these events help promote diversity, inclusiveness, and social justice/advocacy. 

Outstanding Large Scale Event Award: 

These events are intended to reach students on a larger scale. These events provide to students on an area-level and/or campus-wide level in educational or social forms to provide community development on a larger scale than just one building. 

Personal Health and Wellness Award: 

Events within this category are those that help residents by assisting in the development and maintenance of personal health habits. In addition, these events help provide an understanding of the responsibility each of us has to our own needs. 

Strides in Sustainability Award:

This award is given for an event that actively displays engagement in sustainability initiatives in the campus and local community. This event clearly shows a dedication from the residents involved to improve sustainability efforts in a sensitive and impactful way.
